17th of May - Part 2

17th of May or Syttende Mai is the day that the Norwegian constitution was signed. I do not think that there is a country that celebrates their independence like the Norwegians do. They celebrate it by their display of

... nationalism...

... importance of family and friends...

I do not think that my description of the Norwegian National Day gives justice to how it really is. One must experience this festival to really grasp how it really is.

AL, once again beautiful photos from May 17.
I'm not sure what you mean by "nationalisme". For me it's more "patriotisme" - if you see the difference.

Renny - I think it is a wonderful that Norway celebrates 17th of May like this. Every year, I look forward to it.

Raquel - The costumes are used on formal occasions and very practical I should say. One do not need to buy clothes all the time.

Expat - my photos do not do justice to the real celebration.

ZJ - It is a wonderful celebration! :)

Toraa - :) Patriotism is a lively sense of collective responsibility. Nationalism is a silly cock crowing on its own dunghill.

I get what you mean! :)
